Information about the on line waiver from Student Insurance

An international Graduate student with a benefits eligible academic appointment may claim a Student Health Insurance waiver through UT Direct.   To be benefits eligible the appointment must be an academic position (TA, AI, GRA) for 20 hours per week for 4.5 months (a long semester).

Please use your UT-eid to logon to https://utdirect.utexas.edu/isss/waive_insurance.WBX

Choose your job category from the drop down menu. Select the semester for which you are requesting the waiver.  Choose “Continue”.  A screen will appear that asks that you verify that the waiver request information is correct.  If all is correct, then check the box and click on “Submit Waiver Request”.

If your job category does not appear on the menu or if you have problems with the on line waiver, please email LouiseD@austin.utexas.edu.  Please include your name and UT-eid in your message.

You need to request your waiver each semester before the deadline. The deadline for fall 2007 waivers will be September 14, 2007. The deadline for spring-summer waivers will be January 30, 2008.  There will be no refund of the student health insurance fee if you enter the waiver request after the deadline.

After the health insurance waiver is applied, you will still see a fee of $23 for fall 2007 or $38 for spring-summer 2008 for mandatory medical evacuation and repatriation coverage.  The UT employee insurance does not include medical evacuation or repatriation.
